Man collapses, dies at shopping complex

KUCHING: A man was found dead at a shopping complex along Jalan Matang at around 7am yesterday.

The man, identified as Haroni Suai, 61, from Kampung Telaga Air, is believed to have collapsed before he was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the deceased was seen to be unwell before he fainted.

“Initial investigat­ion revealed that there were no injuries found on the deceased body and no foul play was suspected,” he said when contacted yesterday.

According to the deceased’s daughter who arrived at the scene her father had medical history of high blood pressure, gout and difficulti­es in breathing.

The body has been claimed by the family members for burial. No post-mortem was carried out as the case was classified as sudden death.

Separately, a 57-year old man died while fertilizin­g his garden located within the vicinity of his house at Kampung Segubang Batu Kawa, near here.

The deceased, identified as Ng May Poong is said to have fainted before he was pronounced dead by the paramedics at 11.20am yesterday.

Aidil said following checks on the deceased body, no foul play was suspected.

The body has been claimed by the family members as they had requested that no post mortem be performed.

The case was classified as sudden death.
