Putatan student receives Tokoh Pelajar award
PUTATAN: The excellence achieved in Form Three, which was maintained till the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam, earned Mohd Nur Hafizam Henep the Tokoh Pelajar (Valedictorian) 2017 recognition from his school, SMK Putatan.
The recipient of the main award at the school's excellent student award ceremony had not expected to be given the honour, in addition to Tokoh Kepimpinan Pelajar (Exemplary Student Leader) 2017 as head student.
Hafizam, who was a pure science student, achieved 2A+, 5A and 2A, and has indicated his wish to pursue medical studies in the UK. He said he chose to study in the UK because a senior he looked up to is currently pursuing a degree in engineering there.
“A senior of mine, who was also an excellent student at this school, is currently furthering his studies in the UK under a Yayasan Khazanah Global scholarship. This senior is very humble and I wish to be like him,” he said.
However, if he does not get the opportunity to study medicine, Hafizam said he will venture into the pharmaceutical field, inspired by his older brother who is also a medical major.
Upon receiving the honour of valedictorian, Hafizam said the award encouraged him to be a leader capable of guiding an organisation to produce more intellectual individuals.
The aspiring doctor expressed his gratitude for the encouragement and support he received from his parents, teachers and peers, which helped him become an excellent student.
“I cannot express how thankful I am for the sacrifices of my parents and teachers, especially my parents, for preparing my school expenses and sending me to school. It cannot be repaid,” he said.
As for the secret to his success, Hafizam said he was always focused in the classroom and formed study groups with friends.
He also said he preferred studying around 3am as night time makes him feel sleepy, while he does not like studying in the morning.
