Youth denies possessing stolen motorcycle

KOTA KINABALU: A 19-yearold youth yesterday claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of possessing a stolen motorcycle worth RM2,500.

Mohd Suhaimie Jeffry, who appeared before magistrate Afiq Agoes, was accused of keeping the bike belonging to a 50-yearold man in front of a shop in Pekan Bongawan, Papar at 1pm on March 20.

The accused was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which is punishable by a jail term of up to five years or a fine, upon conviction.

The court set April 24 for his case management and the accused was released on RM3,600 bail with two local sureties.

In a separate case, nine men were jailed and fined after they pleaded guilty to separate charges of consuming and possessing syabu.

Alex Latto, 44, was fined RM6,800, in default, 24 months’ jail for possessing 0.34 gram of syabu by the roadside of Jalan Sepanggar near a hotel in Manggatal on October 25, 2017.

Meanwhile, Benzar Johnny, 22, was fined RM3,000, in default, 10 months’ jail; Noor Hazman Nordin, 22, Jaicandy Jaibule, 27, were also fined RM3,000 each, in default, 11 months’ jail.

Benzar, Noor Hazman and Jaicandy were apprehende­d for possessing 0.06 gram, 0.03 gram and 0.009 gram of syabu at Kampung Sembulan, in Manggatal and Penampang, respective­ly, between December 15, 2017 and January 15.

Calanius Lakuwai, 27, was fined RM2,600, in default, eight months’ jail for possessing 0.13 gram of syabu at an unnumbered house at Kampung Dungkahang in Penampang on February 5.

Two accused persons who were jailed for seven months each were Toni Ampadang, 27, and Radz Asari Mustala, 33, for having 0.07 gram and 0.03 gram of syabu at Kampung Air on January 25 and in Putatan on February 4, respective­ly.

For consuming syabu, Mohd Fairuzal Akhmar Suhaini, 39, and Soh Ching Fung, 33, were fined RM2,500 and RM1,800 respective­ly, both in default, eight months’ jail.

Mohd Fairuzal and Soh were ordered to be placed under police supervisio­n for two years while Filipino Radz Asari was ordered to be referred to the Immigratio­n Department after serving his jail term for further action.

Alex, Benzar, Noor Hazman, Jaicandy and Soh’s cases were heard before the same court while the cases of Toni, Calanius, Radz Asari and Mohd Fairuzal were heard before magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus.

Prosecutin­g officer Inspectors Albert Basiri and Mohd Rasydan Jasni prosecuted.
