Providing workforce with occupational safety and health crucial — rep
SANDAKAN: The Safety and Health Campaign is an important agenda in an effort to provide the workforce with knowledge on occupational safety and health.
Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Haji Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris said such a campaign would be able to deliver the latest information on occupational safety and health issues through the sharing of information between the government, employers and workers.
“Briefings and activities provided throughout the campaign are expected to enhance the level of knowledge and awareness of the public, employers and employees in the field of occupational safety and health, particularly on the risk management system at the workplace.
“I am confident that this campaign will disseminate the latest information pertaining to legislation and opportunities provided by the government in reducing accident rate, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning and workplace illness.
“This campaign is also expected to strengthen the relationships between the government, employers, workers and the public,” he said at the opening ceremony of Safety and Health Campaign 2018 held at Sandakan Airport yesterday.
The campaign was jointly organised by Malaysia Airport Sdn Bhd, Aerodarat Service Sdn Bhd and MAS wings Sdn Bhd.
There were also exhibition booths opened by government agencies, blood donation and free basic health screening during the one-day campaign.
