Joffey clinches title in arm-wrestling event
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s top arm-wrestler Joffey Jolly justified his favourite tag by clinching the Pro 85kg Above title in the SAFA VOK Sports that ended at the Tun Adnan Sports Complex near here recently.
Joffey, who has won numerous titles at the national and international level, defeated Michael Ford in the final of the event while third placing went to Calveen Petrus.
In the Pro 85kg and Below contest, Raymond Wong edged Jivander Lonmi in the title match while Nathanel Premus settled for third placing.
The champions of the Pro categories received RM700 and trophy while the second and third placing took home RM500 and RM300 respectively.
The arm wrestling competition also featured the Amateur event where the top three winners were Javier Fung, Francis Abi and Royal Richael.
Javier won RM500 for his efforts followed by RM300 and RM200 for Francis and Royal respectively.
The top three in all three categories also received certificates.
For the record, VOKfm radio station and Ephrata Services Sdn Bhd jointly organised SAFA VOK Sports in collaboration with Youth and Sports Ministry, Sabah Football Association, Sabah Arm Wrestling Association, Tagas Tuaran Youth Club and the darts community from around the City.
Arm wrestling, which attracted around 30 contestants, was one of the activities held during SAFA VOK Sports where the others included Fun Goal Kick, Futsal and Dart competitions.
