MP inspects facilities in villages
SANDAKAN: It was a busy week for Batu Sapi Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin as she met with her constituents and inspected facilities in villages.
The ‘turun padang’ programme was held when she returned briefly here from Kuala Lumpur where she was attending the parliament sitting.
Accompanied by Head Liaison Officer of Batu Sapi MP office Kong Nyuk Thou and local community leaders, Linda visited Kampung Bokara to inspect the 550-foot long wooden bridge which was repaired utilitizing her MP fund.
Next was Kampung Batu Sapi Darat where she got a first hand look at the condition of the 1,225 feet road fronting the village.
The potholes will be filled to address the inconvenience caused to villagers who use the paasage for their daily routines.
She presented zinc sheets and plywood to 384 families in Kampung Sundang Laut, Kampung Sundang Darat, Kampung Batu Sapi Darat and Kampung Batu Sapi Laut.
The building materials are for the recipients to carry out minor repairs on their respective houses.
Linda also visited the ailing former Kampung Batu Sapi Darat village chief at his house. She provided some financial assistance to his family.
A pedestrian walkway with steps will be constructed at SK Melanta Jaya for schoolchildren and their parents.
Linda will use her MP fund to build the facility at the soonest following a request from school officials and its ParentTeacher Association.
The Batu Sapi MP also officiated the ‘Jalinan Kasih’ programme organised by SK Mawar at the Sandakan Industrial Training Centre (ILP) hall in Sibuga.
The event was attended by more than 100 primary six students and their parents.
It was aimed to give motivation to students apart from enabling parents to forge rapport with teachers and school officials.
