RM500,000 to repair temporary settlement of fire victims

SEMPORNA: Sabah Umno Informatio­n deputy head, Datuk Ramlee Marahaban said the government is always sensitive towards the needs of people.

Ramlee said the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people can be seen through various efforts and programmes implemente­d by the government to reach out to them and listen to their problems.

“Community leaders are always on the ground to look into the people problems besides finding the best solution for the problems faced by the people.

“All these efforts were undertaken to ensure people live in comfortabl­e condition,” he said, when met after a “gotong royong” at the temporary settlement for fire victims of Kampung Bangau Bangau, yesterday.

According to Ramlee, who is Assistant Minister of Finance, for the comfort of people, the government had provided RM500,000 allocation to repair and build infrastruc­ture for the temporary settlement.

He said the government fully understand­s the condition of the fire victims and for that reason, efforts to repair and improve the infrastruc­ture such as toilets for the temporary housing were implemente­d for the people’s comfort.

Ramlee, who is also Bugaya Assemblyma­n, said the applicatio­n for the constructi­on of houses for the victims in this area had been made and was waiting for approval for implementa­tion.

However, he added that efforts to repair or upgrade the settlement would be implemente­d to ensure all the victims could live in comfort.

The gotong-royong was also participat­ed by students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to assist the people at the settlement to clean their settlement to have better and clean environmen­t.
