KOTA KINABALU: Around 2,000 youths and representatives from youth and sports associations turned up on the first day of the Fiesta Belia Sepanggar 2018 and South West Coast level Sabah State Jelajah Hari Belia here yesterday.

The program is an initiative of Persatuan Belia Inspirasi Kota Kinabalu and Malaysia Scouts Association Sabah Branch with the cooperation of Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry (KBSS), Gabungan Persatuan Belia Pantai Barat Selatan and supported by Sabah Federal Youth and Sports Department.

Persatuan Belia Inspirasi Kinabalu president and Fiesta Belia Sepanggar 2018 chairman Abqaree Fawwaz Zaini said 24 programs had been lined up for the event for youths.

However, he emphasized the program also acted as a bridge connecting the area’s youth and sports associations with KBSS, the Sabah Federal Youth and Sports Department, and State Youth and Sports Council.

Abqaree said this would create greater awareness needed for associations to organize programs for the development of youths.

“We want not only us to go to the front but we bring together youths or NGOs out there who possibly do not know the channels,” he said.

Among the activities organized during the two-day event were fishing, battle of the bands, futsal, netball, muay thai, touch rugby, health talks, blood donation drive and auto show competition.
