MP calls for more tournaments to promote sports in Beluran
BELURAN: Beluran member of parliament Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee has called on sports leaders to organise more tournaments to promote sports activities here.
He said it is to utilize the facilities provided by the government, especially to meet the needs of the youth.
“Even though Beluran has the facilities to host tournaments or competitions, there is still a lack of sports activities held here.
“I challenge the sports leaders to organise more sports activities as we at the Beluran Parliamentary Office will always give our support, especially in sponsoring the activities,” he said when opening the Beluran MP Cup Football Championship yesterday.
There will be 32 teams competing in the championship held at Beluran Sports Complex from April 1 to 7.
Also present were Beluran Umno Youth chief Samad Jambri, Beluran Youth and Sports officer Roland Henry Lindan and Beluran Umno Division vicechairman Ariffin Bacho.
Among the sports facilities in Beluran are the sports complex, futsal courts and the community hall, Ronald added.
“The provision of these sports facilities is a continuing commitment of the government to meet the needs of the people, especially youth,” he said.
In the meantime, Ronald called on the youths not to be easily influenced by the opposition and false news spread through social media.
Hence, he said any information and news disseminated should be examined for its validity.
