SANDAKAN: Nurul Fardiana Ahmad was ready to marry the love of her life, Muhammad Aidil Dahi. They had chosen their wedding ring and were about to agree on a date, but God had a different plan for the couple.

Aidil, 24, died in a hit-andrun accident about 8.45pm last Thursday while riding his motorcycle in front of a bus stop at Jambatan 7, Jalan Buli Sim Sim here.

After the incident, Nurul’s Facebook posts received a lot of attention when she shared her sorrow on the platform.

One of her posts had a photo of a bed for a body to be carried to the cemetery. On the photo Nurul wrote, “Sayang, this is your mattress. You have always complained that you are tired, you may rest well now.”

She also posted a photo of a ring and wrote, “My husband, the ‘mas kahwin’ that you gave my father, I used it (money) to buy a ring. Who is going to put the ring on me now? You promised that you would put it on my finger while kissing my forehead. You lied.”

Nurul received a lot of words of encouragement from her friends and family, with most asking her to stay strong to face the fate arranged by Allah.

During the accident, a pillion rider who was riding with Aidil, 27, broke his right arm and was sent to the hospital immediately.

District police chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said that the victims were heading to Taman Grandview from Sandakan town when a pick-up truck, believed to be a speeding Isuzu Dmax changed lane from right to left and hit the victims, before the driver escaped.

Aidil was thrown into the drain and died on the spot.
