KKJA to elect new committee at AGM

KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) will be holding its annual general meeting (AGM) cum presentation of awards to members’ children who have performed well academically and in extracurricular activities at the banquet hall, ground floor, Hakka Hall, on May 1 at 10am.

Application forms for the study awards can be obtained from KKJA committee members. The forms must be submitted to the association by April 20.

On the other hand, KKJA will be holding the election of new committee for the term 2018 to 2021.

Nomination forms can now be obtained from KKJA chairman Yong Ted Phen (0198807941), Election Committee (EC) chairman Tang Pok Ngai (016-8357776), EC committee members Chuah Kim Huat (0168362117) and Leopold Santos (016-8253969).

All nomination forms must be submitted by noon on April 15, while nominees have to confirm whether he or she accepts the nomination by April 20.

Chuah, who is also KKJA secretary, urged the members to settle their yearly membership fee for 2018 or else they will lose their eligibility to attend the AGM and election as well as to apply for study awards.

The election will be held right after the AGM, followed by the presentation of study awards.

Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide and advisors of the association will be invited to give away the study award to the recipients.

Members are urged to attend the AGM and presentation of study awards. Lunch will be served after the event.
