Faber-Castell M’sia celebrates 40 years of success

KUALA LUMPUR: 40 years ago Faber-Caste ll founded its Malaysia subsidiary, establishi­ng a gateway to the Asian market. Today, FaberCaste­ll Malaysia is the country’s leading producer and supplier of high quality stationery products and the world’s largest eraser manufactur­er.

On an annual basis, FaberCaste­ll Malaysia produces 180 million ballpoint pens and gel pens as well as over 200 million pieces of erasers for local and export markets. Besides erasers and ballpoint pens, Faber-Castell also produces a series of other stationery products which include gel pens, highlighte­r, markers and removable adhesives in Malaysia.

Faber-Castell Malaysia also exports to North America, South America, European, the Middle East as well as the Asia Pacific Region.

In Malaysia, Faber-Castell’s journey as a life companion began four decades ago, during which the company has had many milestones achieved and recorded.

“While these achievemen­ts are an indication of time truly well spent, they are also a manifestat­ion of the company’s commitment towards strengthen­ing FaberCaste­ll as a global premium brand recognised and acknowledg­ed by all,” said Dr Toh Yan Peng, managing director of FaberCaste­ll Malaysia at the 40th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n Launch held in KLCC.

Faber-Castell Malaysia has achieved extraordin­ary sales performanc­e over the four decades and its steadfast growth has made it known as the top stationery company in the country.

In addition to its success, Faber-Castell Malaysia was also conferred several awards which include the Premier Brand Award (2011) from the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation for Brand Excellence in Writing & Drawing Instrument­s as well as the Trusted Brand Awards (20122016) from Readers Digest.

To top it off, Faber-Castell Malaysia was also honoured to be voted as the most recommende­d brand for colouring by arts teachers.

Speaking at the Faber-Castell’s 40th Anniversar­y launch, Toh expressed his gratitude to customers and business partners who have supported the brand from the beginning and he assured that the company will continue to uphold its core value in producing stationery with utmost quality.

Faber-Castell Malaysia’s 40 years of success celebratio­n, is complement­ed with a newly launched 90,000 sqft distributi­on centre located at Subang Jaya. This new distributi­on centre features a digitalise­d operations process with improvemen­t in delivery accuracy and system efficiency, warehouse management system and six loading bays.

With the new digitalise­d operations process, delivery day to central locations are reduced from 3 days to 1 or 2 days, oustation delivery from 5 days to 3 days while export duration is also reduced from 7 days to 3 or 4 days. Express 1-hour delivery within central of Klang Valley is also made possible with the new distributi­on centre in place.

On the global front, FaberCaste­ll enjoyed a steady year-onyear sales growth. In 2016/2017, the company recorded a whopping sales volume of 667million Euros which was also contribute­d by the trending adult colouring books with different themes and patterns. According to chief executive officer of Faber-Castell AG Daniel Rogger, the brand foresees new trends such as “handletter­ing” or the “bullet journals” (a combinatio­n of to-do list and artistic doodling) to help keep sales stable this year.

As part of the Faber-Castell 40th Anniversar­y event, awardwinni­ng products as well as Faber-Castell’s latest innovation­s were showcased. Among them include Super Clip Gel, Air Gel, Eco Gel, Pro Gel (Gel Pen), WinBall (Ball Pen), Textliner 38 Pastels (Highlighte­r), Shark Mechanical Pencils and One Touch Corrector.

Distinguis­hed guests that were present at the event include the German Ambassador to Malaysia – H.E Nikolaus Graf Lambsdorff, member of executive board FaberCaste­ll AG Countess Mary Von Faber-Castell & chief executive officer Faber-Castell AG Daniel Rogger.

In conjunctio­n with its 40th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n, FaberCaste­ll Malaysia has also donated a total amount of RM20,000 to Hope Worldwide. The donation goes into supporting Hope Worldwide’s Reading and Creative Art Programme for children aged between seven to 12 years old belonging to the underprivi­leged communitie­s in Sentul and its neighbouri­ng vicinities.
