SUCCC to assist Chinese youths venturing into e-commerce
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) president Tan Sri Andrew Liew Sui Fatt yesterday urged Sabahan youths to hop on the e-commerce bandwagon to conduct business in this borderless world.
He said the association would form an e-commerce committee to assist Chinese youths venturing into e-commerce.
Liew said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had just launched the RM25 million E-commerce Micro Credit scheme for young Chinese entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 45 on Sunday.
He said the allocation came at the right time as e-commerce was now the latest and fastest growing trend of doing business in the world.
“Young entrepreneurs, especially the Chinese youths, should seize the opportunity and promote Sabah’s rich natural resources on the e-commerce platform,” he said in a press conference here on Monday.
He said the fresh seafood, tropical fruits like durian and mangosteen, handicraft and travel packages could be marketed online.
“Young entrepreneurs essentially only require a computer and internet access for them to set up their own e-commerce site and gain access to the global market right at their fingertips.”
Liew urged young Chinese entrepreneurs to apply for the Ecommerce Micro Credit scheme.
As one of the 40 joint organizers of the scheme, he said interested individuals could obtain the application form and information for the micro credit scheme at the SUCCC secretariat.
Liew said SUCCC would also be setting up the e-commerce committee to assist Sabahan youths in harnessing the potentials of e-commerce.
Also present were SUCCC deputy president Datuk Ling Tiong Chai and executive secretary Chin Yen Sang.
