Jainab prefers to defend Karambunai seat

-

SEPANGGAR: Incumbent Karambunai assemblywoman, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, has indicated her preference to stand in Karambunai rather than Tawau.

Speaking to The Borneo Post after launching the Sepanggar Kemas event at Kampung Kuala Menggatal, Jainab said she is aware of the statement made by the youth movement in the constituency stating that they want a new face for Karambunai. There is also word that she will be fielded in Tanjung Batu, Tawau.

“We, in Barisan Nasional, welcome any proposals and suggestions. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as we don't hurt the feelings of others, because at the end of the day, our intention is to win the election.

“Whoever wants to be a candidate can voice out their intention, and the grassroots are also welcome to do so. However, we cannot say much because it is the decision of Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“To me, I am personally comfortable with Karambunai because I have been serving here for three terms. People in Tawau don't really know me,” Jainab explained.

Jainab, who is also Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister, said that she has already told the voters that whoever is fielded in Karambunai must be given 100 percent support.

She is also confident that the top leadership is aware of who is the winnable candidate.
