Opposition deliberately stirs up Malay tsunami sentiment – Khairy

-

TASEK GELUGOR: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has described the Malay Tsunami sentiment played up by the opposition as a deliberate attempt to show the Malays were no longer with Umno in the 14th General Election (GE14).

He said in reality, the Malay Tsunami did not exist, and the Malay community was still with Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

Indepth studies done by Umno and BN had found that the majority of Malay voters were still with Umno and BN, he told reporters after launching the Penang BN Youth 'Briged Gempur 2314' in Kubang Menerong yesterday.

Opposition think tank, Invoke, recently predicted that Kedah, Perak and Johor will fall into the hands of Pakatan Harapan, in addition to big margin victories in Selangor and Penang following a Malay Tsunami.

Invoke director Rafizi Ramli when presenting a survey with 2,000 respondents during the 'GE14 Prediction Forum: What The Big Data Tells Us?' in Kuala Lumpur, said it revealed that Malay support for BN had dropped to 28 per cent last month, from 41 per cent in December last year.

Meanwhile, on Pakatan Harapan's move to use the PKR logo in the election, Khairy said it clearly showed that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was even willing to forego his own principle of opposing Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the move by the former premier showed he had forgotten his past struggle of not wanting Anwar to become prime minister. – Bernama
