PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan has indicated he has no desire to contest in the upcoming election.

Deputy PBS president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili told press members pressing for an update on the matter said Pairin had indicated that he had had enough and that he would like to play other roles.

He added however the final decision on the issue would probably only be known on nomination day.

He also said the party's supreme council would be studying the impact of this towards the party.

“We will discuss it in detail,” he said.

Maximus was also asked whether he would remain a parliamentary candidate in Kota Marudu. To this, he replied that the answer would be known on nomination day.

And with regard to the party's candidate list for the upcoming 14th general election, Maximus explained that it was 80 percent done.

“We are almost there. There will be some more interviews,” he said to press members when asked about the issue.

He added that suitable candidates would be installed back and promised that the list of candidates should consist of the young and not aged but seasoned candidates of both sexes.

“We will probably announce five days before the nomination day. We are now coordinating with the Barisan Nasional chairman,” he said.
