KLUANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded the people not to get caught up with ‘SLMA' or ‘Surprise Last Minute Attack' slanders hurled by the opposition during the 14th General Election (GE14).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman, said the ‘slanderous bombs' were tactics used by the opposition to confuse the people, who must be ready to shield themselves from becoming victims of these slanderous bombs.

"There will be SLMA. There will be bombing at the last minute. I'm sure they (opposition) will wait at the last minute to hurl the bomb,

"For example, before the last general election it was said 40,000 Bangladeshi nationals will vote for BN. How is it possible (40,000 Bangladeshi nationals) ...that's last last minute attack, we should not get stuck,” he said when attending the meet and greet session with Kluang people at Batu 3, Jalan Mersing yesterday.

At the function, Ahmad Zahid also officiated at the Sekolah Agama Kerajaan Johor Phase 5 construction project, Kluang District Johor Affordable House Offer Certificate presentation and the launch of the Islamic Civilisation Park, Kampung Paya Development Plan and the Indian Community Hall.

Also present were Ahmad Zahid's wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Johor BN secretary Datuk Md Jais Sarday, who is also the incumbent for Mahkota state seat.

Asked by reporters about BN's strategy to counter the SLMA, Ahmad Zahid said, however, it could not be announced because it is a strategy.

He said a BN study revealed there was a new awareness among Chinese and Indian voters on the need to have elected representatives from the BN because only they could provide the best services to the people.

Ahmad Zahid said this was proven based on the achievement of 99.4 per cent in the GE13 manifesto.
