KUALA LUMPUR: Digi.Com Bhd’s net profit rose to RM386.11 million in its first quarter ended March 31, 2018, from RM373.11 million a year earlier.

Revenue for the quarter increased to RM1.63 billion from RM1.57 billion previously while earnings per share went up to 4.97 sen from 4.8 sen.

Chief executive officer Albern Murty said the company managed to improve margins and returns with earnings driven by the strong uptake momentum of its Internet and digital services offerings across postpaid, prepaid, enterprise and new digital businesses.

“Our sharper focus in delivering innovative range of products, services and solutions enabled us to provide better value and experience in meeting our customers’ Internet needs,” he said in a statement today.

Albern added that the company had made sound investments to accelerate the strategic deployment of its spectrum portfolio to improve the quality, performance and capacity of its 4G Plus network, while cost discipline and operational efficiencies had and would continue to be part of the company’s way to create value.

The company has invested RM181 million for capital expenditure or 12.2 per cent of service revenue to expand the 4G long term evolution (LTE) and LTE-A network footprint to 88 per cent and 57 per cent respectively, and over 8,200 kilometres of fibre network nationwide.

In the first quarter of 2018, service revenue grew 0.7 per cent year-on-year to RM1.48 billion, fuelled by solid Internet revenue growth from its strong postpaid performance and stronger data monetisation of prepaid business, the company said.

Digi closed the quarter with 11.8 million subscribers with a healthy average revenue per user of RM42.
