MIGHT Technology working on Andhra Pradesh tech park project report
AMARAVATI: MIGHT Technology Nurturing Sdn Bhd is expected to soon present a detailed project report for the establishment of a technology park in India’s Andhra Pradesh state.
The agreement to set up a fourth-generation technology park in the southern state’s new capital of Amaravati, was signed between the company and the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s visit to India in April 2017.
The state administration is now awaiting the detailed project report (DPR), said Sreedhar Cherukuri, head of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, the agency overseeing the greenfield capital city’s development.
“The project is at an initial stage. We are waiting for the DPR. It will take two months.
“More than two weeks ago a Malaysian delegation visited Andhra Pradesh to discuss the project,” he said during a media tour of Amaravati yesterday.
The new capital, about 300 kilometres (km) from Hyderabad, is being developed as a high-tech city covering an area of 217 sq km.
Andhra Pradesh launched the project after the state’s 2014 bifurcation, in which the capital city of Hyderabad went to the new state of Telangana.
Amaravati aims to be a futuristic city by incorporating green transport, non-polluting industries, e-governance and modern amenities that makes it a most liveable city.
Andhra Pradesh Rural Development and Information Technology Minister, Nara Lokesh, said the government was benchmarking Amaravati against some of the world’s best cities.
It is projected to have a population of 3.5 million by 2050.
