Rumpun Pribumi community hope for their candidate to contest

-

LAHAD DATU: The Rumpun Pribumi Anak Negeri community comprising of Idahan, Bagahak and Subpan folks hopes the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership will provide opportunity for a candidate from this community to contest in the upcoming election.

Its spokesperson, Mohamad Sarangith, said the community was previously represented by former Tungku assemblyman Datuk Mohd Suhaili Said who died in March last year.

Since the departure of Suhaili, he said the community had lost their voice and representative in the State Assembly.

“Our community have always supported the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, as we believe that only Barisan Nasional is capable of ruling the country. Therefore, we hope the BN leadership will give an opportunity to a representative from our community to contest in one of the seats in Silam,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

According to Mohamad, who is also Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Negara chairman, their community is confident that they can contribute to a BN victory through their candidate.

He said this had been proven in the 2004, 2008 and 2013 elections when their candidates won the parliamentary and state assembly seats.

“Therefore, we hope the BN leadership will consider this matter and entrust a candidate from our community to contest in the upcoming election,” he added.
