Salang: Don’t believe in all you read in social media

-

SIBU: The people are told not to believe everything they see and read in social media platform as many of them are not true.

These keyboard warriors are writing things they do not have full knowledge of.

Parti Rakyat Sarawak(PRS) secretary general Datuk Joseph Salang said among their favourite accusations was that the BN elected representatives had failed to bring development into their areas.

He said this at a dinner attended by more than 600 people and longhouse chiefs from over 500 longhouses in the Julau parliamentary constituency, in Sarikei last Saturday.

They were among participants of a leadership course organised in conjunction with the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) held here over the weekend.

Salang said it was not possible for Julau or Pakan to have shopping malls or industries due to their very small population.

“But be rest assured that many of those critics are travelling on good roads instead of using longboats like their forefathers did many years ago.

“They forget that the presence of roads is due to their elected representatives. They can even use handphones in far away places in the interior,” he said.

He added that amenities like treated water and electricity supplies did not just drop from the sky.

“I have done quite a lot and have brought many developments here since the past 18 years ago. Although many have been done, many others are still being done or being planned.

“They will take some time implemented.

“So, do not assume that just because they are not there yet, they are not coming. All big projects, especially roads and bridges, take time to be implemented,” he said.

In Julau alone, he said there are 25 telecommunication towers. Ten new ones will be put up soon. to be
