PBDS Baru adamant on contesting Sri Aman seat

-

KUCHING: PBDS Baru will not give way for a one-on-one contest between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in the Sri Aman seat.

Its supreme council member Bobby William, even suggested that PH should be the one which should withdraw its candidacy.

He said this was because party president Cobbold John had publicly cited interest in contesting in Sri Aman on several occasions way before BN and PH announced their candidates.

He also reasoned that Cobbold deserved to contest (the seat) since he (Cobbold) is a local boy in the constituency unlike PH candidate Norina Umoi who comes from Layar.

“Many comments made by state PH supporters in social media accusing PBDS Baru as being state BN’s agent to split votes, and a nuisance, by choosing to contest in Sri Aman. But the question is, when did PH announce their decision to contest in Sri Aman? It was only recently, isn’t it right?

“Cobbold announced his candidacy to contest in Sri Aman even way before Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the renomination of Datuk Masir Kujat as the candidate from BN.

“Why not allow PBDS Baru to contest one-on-one against BN since the candidacy was announced earlier than PH? Why create a commotion about the thing now? Is it because PBDS Baru is not an ally of PH?” he said yesterday.

He also said that Norina, being an ex supreme council member of the now-defunct Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS), should understand better the sentiment of mutual respect in as far as the matter is concerned.

He also questioned the whereabouts of Norina who suddenly appears now that the election is near.
