BN candidates not just winnable, but will win – Abdul Rahman

-

SEPANGGAR: The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in Sabah are not just winnable candidates, but will be the winning candidates at the 14th General Election (GE14), according to BN Strategic Communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

As such, he said the party could not just deny its former representatives with good track records in serving their constituents, and still capable of ensuring victory for BN.

“Let’s say the representative is still capable of representing the constituency and has received a high rating from the constituents, what is the basis to exclude him (from being nominated),” he said this to reporters after opening the Bumiputera Education Tour 2018 programme organised by Yayasan Destini Anak Bangsa here yesterday.

Abdul Rahman, who is also State BN secretary, said the BN’s stand also differed greatly from DAP which would go against its own principles just to achieve its political agenda.

Citing DAP’s decision to drop 75year-old Dr Tan Seng Giaw, who had been DAP representatives for Kepong for eight terms, from the party’s list of candidates for the GE14, Abdul Rahman said it showed that DAP was so desperate to form a government and could not accept it when any of their leaders had different ideas and did not support their agenda.

“DAP is a chauvinist, racist party... there are neither values nor integrity in their struggles,” Abdul Rahman said.

Tan was reportedly dropped from the list after he, as the Public Accounts Committee deputy chairman in 2016, said that there was no evidence to link Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with the 1Malaysia Development Bhd issue, and criticised the DAP-led Penang government for its environmental crisis.

On the Bumiputera Education Tour programme, Abdul Rahman said it proved the seriousness of BN government to expand educational opportunities to the people across the country, especially in rural areas.

“This programme is mooted by the prime minister to reach out and give a second or third chance to youths, especially in rural areas, who missed the chance to enter college, university or skill training institution before,” he said, adding that those given the chance to enter educational institution under the programme would also receive financial aid of RM1,500 from Yayasan Bank Rakyat.

The programme will be held in Keningau today, Kota Marudu (April 23) and Kinabatangan (April 25) before heading to Sarawak on April 27.
