BN confident of reclaiming Inanam seat

INANAM: The ‘disastrous’ performance of Dr Roland Chia as the assemblyman for Inanam indicates that it is time for the constituents to move on.

Barisan Nasional’s (BN) proposed Sepanggar candidate Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan pointed out that Roland’s own chief, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Christina Liew had given Roland a ‘failed mark’.

“Well, obviously, the performance of the previous YB (Roland) here was disastrous and he did not make any effort to address the issues concerning the people of Inanam.

“This is not just our assessment. He was given a failed mark (which meant that he was) not up to standard by none other than by his own president and chief in the state of Sabah, Christina Liew,” Abdul Rahman said.

Christina herself said Roland had failed to fulfil the KPI requirements, Abdul Rahman added.

Abdul Rahman described this as proof that the opposition does not have ‘insight’ and that they cannot find ways to solve problems. They are only concerned in being elected.

Abdul Rahman concluded that PKR members are only interested in playing the game of politics, something Christina herself had seem to agree, Abdul Rahman added.

Thus, Abdul Rahman, who was accompanied by Datuk Johnny Goh , expressed his confidence in reclaiming the Inanam seat in the 14th general election (GE14).

“It is time to move on. I believe BN Sepanggar has the vision, with me at the federal level and Datuk Johnny Goh at the state, backed up by leaders of PBS Inanam. I think this is the best time to return Inanam to BN.

Back in GE13, Goh was not fielded in Inanam despite him being the incumbent after winning the seat in GE12. Instead, BN fielded Joseph P. Lantip, who eventually lost to Roland by a majority of 3,203 votes.

Roland’s name has since been dropped by Christina as Kenny Chua would be taking his place instead.

Goh revealed that he was surprised when he found out that he would be fielded in Inanam.

“I only knew about my nomination yesterday. I was not even ready. If you do not believe me, you can ask the others. My name was not even on the screen yet.

“When they called, I was not even wearing the BN shirt-the people want me to come back. I believe they will vote, not only for the state candidate (Inanam) but for the (Sepanggar) parliamentary seat as well,” he asserted.

He added that the PBS leadership had conducted a survey, through Kemas, the police, Jasa, MIO and many others prior to his nomination.

When asked to comment on the plethora of opposition parties in GE14, he simply quipped ‘the more the merrier’.
