SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman yesterday announced that all People’s Housing Project (PPR) units in Sabah would be offered with rent to buy scheme.

He said that the application for the scheme was presented to the Prime Minister and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Development Ministry before and he received positive feedback.

“I was then told bt the Government Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman that the application was approved. This is what we wanted because this would reduce the burden of those living in PPR in Sabah.

“Before this the residents had to pay rent but could not own the house, now it is time that PPR residents in Sabah receive the scheme for them to own the home instead,” he said during the launching ceremony of Jalan Lintas Army Camp mile 7 here, yesterday.

At the event, Musa launched the one kilometre road that was built by a private company, Angcoland Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of Malbumi Group.

He said it was a win-win project for state government and the private company in providing better facility to the people.

“Although this is a small scale project, it gives a big impact to the people, especially road users. Whatmore that this area has traffic jam problem during peak hours.

“This alternative road will make traffic flow smoother which will in turn increase the productivity of the road users,” he said.

Musa said there would be more development that was planned and implemented by BN which would contribute to the well-being of the rakyat.
