RM1 mln to refurbish Inanam stalls

-

INANAM: Barisan Nasional’s (BN) proposed Sepanggar candidate Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan announced that approximately RM1 million will be allocated for the refurbishment of the traditional stalls at the Inanam township.

The stalls will be renovated to give it a more permanent structure and to give more comfort to both hawkers and buyers.

“We will rearrange (the landscape) of the Inanam township so that it can be a township that makes everyone proud. Inanam is the economic catalyst for Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK). That is why we have (decided) to allocate a total of RM1 million for these stalls.

“For today alone, the Economic Planning Unit (of which Abdul Rahman is in charge of) has allocated around RM2.2 million for City Hall. This excludes the RM10 million, which had already been approved by (caretaker) Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman for the construction of a new community hall in Inanam,” Abdul Rahman told reporters during his walkabout in Inanam on Friday.

Commenting on the proposed hall, Abdul Rahman disclosed that its concept will be unveiled very soon and that it will have a newer look, paving the way for the building to be iconic and a symbol of pride for Inanam.

Abdul Rahman also announced that approximately RM1.2 million had been channelled by EPU to address the issue of clogged drains in Inanam.

“Inanam has been growing rapidly since the past ten years. However, during that development period, we would definitely have to improve the people’s infrastructure in this township,” Abdul Rahman said, stressing that Inanam is currently one of the most active townships in Kota Kinabalu.

In line with this, Abdul Rahman opted to conduct a cleanup programme to unclog the 5.5 kilometre drain (which are of different sizes), by using suction trucks.
