120 affordable homes to be built in Kinabatang­an

KINABATANG­AN: The second generation of settlers in Rancangan Suan Lamba will soon enjoy affordable, safe and condusive homes upon the completion of 120 houses built under Rumah Bina Negara in Suan Lamba, Sukau here.

Chairman of Felcra Berhad, Dato' Sri Bung Moktar Radin said the houses will be constructe­d on 12.14 hectares of land owned by Sabah Land Developmen­t Board (SLDB).

“These 800 square feet singlestor­ey houses will be equipped with three bedrooms, two toilets, living room and kitchen.

“Each house is worth RM125,000 however, the government has borne RM50,000 of the cost thus enabling the target group to own it at RM75,000 per unit.

“This strategic partnershi­p through National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) collaborat­ion between Felcra Berhad and SLDB with an estimated cost of RM8,640,000 is expected to be built after Hari Raya Aidilfitri upon receiving constructi­on approval from Kinabatang­an District Council,” he said.

Bung was speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the Rumah Bina Negara (RBN) Suan Lamba here which was officiated by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman yesterday. Also present were Managing Director of SLDB, Haji Jazuli Sunarto, Chief Operation Officer of Felcra Berhad, Zainal Abidin bin Shariff, former Sukau assemblyma­n, Datuk Saddi Haji Abdul Rahman, local leaders and settlers of Rancangan Suan Lamba.

The Rumah Bina Negara programme is an initiative by the rural transforma­tion programme to provide affordable housing for youths who live in rural areas.

It aims to provide comfortabl­e housing for youths to increase their assets while encouragin­g them to live in the village without migrating to urban areas.

At the same ceremony, SLDB has also presented dividend and living incentive to settlers and participan­ts of SLDB in Suan Lamba worth RM13,584,778.
