Yong re-elected uncontested as KKJA chief
KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) chairman Yong Ted Phen has been re-elected uncontested for a second term.
The association's Election Committee chairman Tang Pok Ngai said the rest of the line-up were elected without contest as well.
They are deputy chairman Tang Pok Ngai, vice chairmen Kwan Sui Wan and Nancy Lai, secretary Ng Sin Yee, assistant secretary Chuah Kim Huat, treasurer Yee Kiet Ying @ Adriana, assistant treasurer Lester Joseph Bingkasan, recreation officer Lo Teck Loong, training officer Suraidah Roslan, welfare officer Tseu Kui Yin @ James, liaison officer Jamsreneen Jamaron, committee members Jimmy Goh, Chok Sim Yee and Angela Tan.
On the other hand, KKJA will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) cum presentation of study awards to members' children at 10am on May 1, Tuesday, at the banquet hall on the ground floor of Hakka Hall.
Yong urged the members to come early for registration, adding that the first 35 members who arrived would receive early bird gifts.
He said the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide and advisors of the association had been invited to attend the event.
"I understand that our members will be busy during the election period.
"But I do hope our members will take time out to attend the AGM to discuss the association's affairs."
Yong said one of the agenda of the meeting was to discuss proposed amendments to the KKJA constitution. Refreshment and lunch will be served.
Yong continued to say that the association would be giving away 32 study awards this year.
The award recipients for excellent academic results are Teo Xin Ci, Ruth Ethan Lester Bingkasan, Ian Ethan Lester Bingkasan, Ameta Vanar, Alistrina Vitalis, Yong Sin Yii, Nursofi Aisyahtul Fatihah, Maya Hejnowska, Fara'ain Syaani, Sandra Bong Chu Chien, Wong Jia Ching, Toh Lu Seng, Lai Ka Wai, Chuah Hooi Beng, Alistair Vitalis, John Hejnowski, Wong Jia Bao, Eric Kwan Yin Zhe, Tan Eng Jiun, Joanne Tambanan, Toh Pei Ni, Adriel Allan Liaw and Godwin Goh Chun Ting.
Meanwhile, the recipients for outstanding extracurricular activities are Yong Sin Yii, Teo Xin Ci, Maya Hejnowska and Wong Jia Bao.
