Foreigner held for drug possession
PENAMPANG: A foreigner was arrested by police for possessing 7.13 gram of syabu during a raid at a rented room in Putatan on Thursday.
District police chief DSP Haris Ibrahim said the arrest was made following a tip off on drug activities taking place in the area at 11.20 am on April 26.
“A team of narcotic police raided the rented room and found a plastic packet containing a crystal-like substance inside a black box.
“Further investigation revealed that the crystal was syabu weighing 7.13 gram with a market price of RM600,” he told a press conference at the Penampang police headquarters here yesterday.
Police subsequently detained the suspect, aged 30, to be investigated under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952
According to Haris, the suspect told police that he had bought the drugs from a seller in Kota Kinabalu.
Police immediately launched an investigation with their Kota Kinabalu counterpart and managed to arrest a second suspect at KK Plaza around 8 pm the same day.
“Police believe this suspect is the seller after police found 11.94 grams of crystal-like substance believed to be syabu in his possession.
“The suspect has been remanded to facilitate police investigation,” he said.
