PENAMPANG: A woman and her two children, aged one and three, could only watch helplessly in fear as two armed robbers tied up her husband with a cable before robbing them at their home in Taman Tanaki here last week.

The mother and children were not harmed in the incident that happened on April 20.

It is learnt that the robbers had entered the house around 3.30am but were confronted by the woman’s 31-year-old husband who was awakened by noises.

One of the suspects then took a kitchen knife and threatened the husband before tying his hands with a hair dryer cable.

The suspects then took a Samsung S7 Edge, a Samsung Note 5, a branded watch, a laptop, a gold necklace, HKD4,000 and RM500 cash before fleeing in a waiting Perodua Myvi car.

District police chief DSP Haris Ibrahim said that following a police report lodged by the victim, police managed to arrest four men in two separate raids in Penampang on April 24.

“Among those arrested was the mastermind and three of his accomplices.

“Police also managed to recover most of the stolen items such as two cellphones, a laptop, a gold necklace, RM1,200, a knife and a Perodua Myvi car,” Haris told a press conference at the Penampang police headquarters here yesterday.

Police investigation also revealed that two of the suspects, including the mastermind, were former convicts.

“We are still investigating if the suspects were involved in other robbery cases,” he said.

The suspects, in their 20s and 40s, are being remanded until April 30 for investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
