PUNB building shop office premises in Bukit Katil

MELAKA: PUNB Properties Sdn Bhd (PPSB), a subsidiary of Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB), is investing more than RM9.75 million to build 22 units of shop office premises in Bukit Katil here.

PUNB chairman Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam said this would enable Bumiputera entreprene­urs to own shop offices in a bid to expand their businesses.

The contractor has been selected and the project on a one-hectare site is scheduled for completion on Sept 26 next year, he said, adding that works,includingp­rovidingaT­enaga Nasional Bhd substation, electrical and mechanical installati­ons, a waste disposal site, a car park, and landscapin­g.

“Jobs will be created indirectly for the Bumiputera community in the state, thus raising their economic position.

“Applicatio­ns (to buy the units) can be made directly to the state's PUNB office and today we began taking the two per cent deposit,” he told a press conference following the project's ground-breaking ceremony here yesterday.

In a separate developmen­t, Mohd Ali said PUNB had purchased 235 units of business premises involving an allocation of RM268.90 million from 2008 until Jan 31 this year.

“For this year, PUNB has set aside RM45.7 million to buy more business premises at strategic locations nationwide,” he added.

Establishe­d in September last year, PPSB has the objective of raising the level of Bumiputera ownership of business premises nationwide in line with the National Developmen­t Policy's aim of creating a dynamic, competitiv­e and progressiv­e business community. — Bernama
