BTS scores huge 1.44 million preorders for album
SEOUL: BTS’ new album has not been released yet but more than 1.44 million copies of it have been preordered, according to the group’s management agency.
“Love Yourself: Tear”, the Kpop sensation’s third full-length album, has garnered a total of 1,449,287 preorders as of Tuesday since it became available for preorders on Apr 18, Big Hit Entertainment said.
It is the largest preorder volume for a BTS album, 400,000 more than the band’s 2017 hit album “Love Yourself: Her”, the first in its band’s “Love Yourself” series.
The album set to be released on May 18 stayed on top of Amazon’s album pre-order list for the eighth consecutive day on Thursday.
On May 20, BTS will perform at the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where they are nominated for the Top Social Artist award. BTS will perform the song at the ceremony, which will air live on network ABS.

recent events in Japan. The band held fan events in Yokohama and Osaka this month. Some Korean fans at the scene said they were treated forcefully, while others claimed they were sexually harassed.
Big Hit Entertainment responded to the complaints Tuesday with an announcement on the band’s official fan website. It promised to look into the matter and verify the facts of the cases.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to the fans,” the announcement read. “We will continue to monitor and supervise maintenance for fans to comfortably view events.”
