BN young, new faces have own strength to win GE14 — Salleh
PENAMPANG: The new and young faces of the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates have their own strengths and aura to win the seats they represented thereby giving a major victory for the party in the 14th General Election (GE14), said Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
Salleh said all BN youth candidates were highly qualified and had the idea and spirit to fulfill the aspiration of the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) which would be able to attract young voters to achieve the vision together.
Taking Penampang BN candidate Ceasar Mandela Malakun as an example, Salleh said Mandela who is active in Upko, one of the BN component parties, had the right package as an elected representative as the young man had a vision and planning to bring more development in the area.
“All this can only be done if we (the people of Penampang) give him the chance to become the people’s representative because his party, namely BN has the ability to implement what have been promised.
“I am confident that Mandela has his own strength, supported by a strong party with experienced leaders such as Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin (Moyog BN candidate) and Datuk John Ambrose (Penampang Umno division chief),” he told reporters after attending a meet-the-people programme here on Monday night.
Salleh, who is also Communications and Multimedia Minister, said BN’s approach to highlighting the talent of young leaders as candidates in the GE14 proved that the BN was willing to change to ensure that the party continued to be relevant and upto-date for the future interests of the people.
“With other young candidates like Hafez Yamani Musa (Sipitang BN candidate); Jamawi Jaafar (Kemabong BN candidate); and Arthur Kurup (Pensiangan BN candidate), this determines that we will not be lacking of leadership as we produce credible leaders for the future,” he said.
In a related development, Salleh said the people should give the mandate and absolute victory to BN in the general election for the continuation of the development agenda and infrastructure. Bernama
