Shahrizat pens open letter to Malaysians
PETALING JAYA: Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has penned a letter to all Malaysians in view of polling day tomorrow, May 9.
She said that while women in Malaysia have achieved substantial successes, there was still a long way to go.
She added that she believed in Barisan Nasional’s ideals, abilities and duties and that the coalition would continue to serve a multiracial and multicultural Malaysia. This is her letter in full. On Wednesday May 9th 2018, we will together be heading to the ballot box. When we make our mark in that box, we will be responsible for choosing which party will govern us over the next five years. Our destiny as a happy and successful country rests in our hands.
Barisan Nasional has served the country diligently and with commitment. As a result of our multicultural community, and passionate dedication to practical governance, we live in a stable and progressive nation, that has avoided many of the pitfalls that can easily inflict a melting pot society like ours.
On the whole, Malaysia is truly a good country to call home, and I believe that most Malaysians would agree with me on that.
Prime Minister Dato Sri Najib Razak is fully committed to continuing this tradition, in serving our country diligently and with passion.
This is clear from Dato Sri Najib’s style of leadership, the policies and programs our government has implemented, and the plans we have to continue making Malaysia the magnificent and safe home that we know and love.
It is never easy to be a leader. The challenges are myriad especially in this complicated and complex world of politics.
For me, my ultimate passion is for the struggle of our women and families in Malaysia. Women in Malaysia have achieved substantial successes, but we still have a long way to go.
On my journey with all of you, I have had the honor of working with women of all stripes, and I have seen with my own eyes the potential we have. It is my dream that Malaysian women stand as powerful, equal partners to the men of Malaysia, where our men can derive great confidence from knowing that their partners in nation building stand like mountains beside them, unshakable and resourceful.
It is my dream that women fulfill our destiny in uplifting every aspect of Malaysian society, so that our children and generations to come will grow up in a nation that they are proud of.
And it is my dream that no woman is ever left behind, by the government and by society, in any way, shape or form, for as long as the Barisan Nasional government is chosen by we, the people.
This is my pledge to you; this has been my truest aspiration for the duration of my career, and it will be my absolute dedication for the rest of my time serving you. I believe in Barisan Nasional’s ideals. I believe in Barisan Nasional’s abilities.
And I believe in Barisan Nasional’s duties. It has been our tradition to serve a multicultural and multiracial Malaysia, and to embrace and cherish our differences and diversity.
We will continue to do so, for the sake of the happiness and success of all Malaysians, in shaa Allah.
