Don’t sabotage any BN candidates, Abg Jo warns

-

JULAU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has issued a very stern warning to those from within trying to sabotage the BN candidates contesting in 31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak.

The Sarawak BN chairman said he would not tolerant such action as the state BN wanted to win more seats in the 14th general election to enable its voice to be heard better by the federal government.

“Once we know this (sabotage) happens, we will know what to do,” he said at a meet-the-people session at Jana longhouse in Batu Matup here yesterday.

Also present was BN candidate and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) secretary-general Datuk Joseph Salang, who is defending the Julau parliamentary seat against Independent, Larry Sng Wei Shien in a straight fight.

Abang Johari said everyone must abide by the BN coalition’s code of discipline.

“My party, Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is very strong because of this strict adherence to discipline. What is the use of fighting and quarrelling as our mutual core business is of bringing and development to the people,” he said.

He said Sarawak BN was also confident of winning 28 of the 31 seats contested from 25 seats in the GE13.

“When we can win these seats we will have better bargaining power in our discussion with the federal government to get back more of the state rights under the MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963) which have been eroded,” he said.

On Larry Sng, Abang Johari stressed there was no way the BN would accept him even if he won.

“He will not be part of the government. That is why this time too I have insisted that there will be no more direct BN candidate as well,” he said.

At the function he announced fund allocation totalling RM139.3 million for various infrastructure projects for the Julau and Pakan Districts besides a grant of RM350,000 for rewiring purpose of the 65-door longhouse. Bernama
