Reduced premiums for recipients of residential lots

-

KUCHING: The State government yesterday announced the reduction of land title issuance premium for residential lots at resettlement and village extension schemes by 50 per cent or by RM2,500 from RM5,000 effective Sunday.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office press statement yesterday the reduction of the premium was to ease the financial burden of the recipients of the lots who are from the lower income group.

The decision was made after Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg visited Kpg Maludam and Kpg Kuala Igan on Sunday and saw the hardship of the people who have been offered lots in resettlement and village extension scheme areas.

“The Chief Minister is always concerned about the well being of labourers, farmers and fishermen - be they in the urban or rural area,” the statement stressed.

Affected residents in resettlement schemes of SPS Stampin Fasa 1,SPS Stampin Fasa 2,

SPS Stampin Fasa 3, SPS Batu Kawa 2 ½ Fasa 1, SPS Batu Kawa 4 ½ Fasa 2 Stage I, SPS Batu Kawa 4 ½ Fasa 2 Stage II (Muslim), SPS Batu Kawa 4 ½ Fasa 2 Stage II (Nonmuslim), SPS Batu Kawa 4 ½ Fasa 3; and SPS Stapok involving 2,834 residential lots, will be paid back the excess payment for their lots.

The application to get the refund of excess payment must be made latest by Oct 31 2018 and only those who were originally given the lots can apply for the refund.

The statement said applications from second owners of these lots will not be entertained.

To further ease the financial burden of those given the residential lots settlement of the premium can be made in 10 installments within 10 years at the Land and Survey Department.

The reduction in premium will cost the government RM7.085 million.
