Edison Chen enjoying fatherhood, jokes about starting to feel old
HONG KONG: Singer-actor Edison Chen, 38, is enjoying his fatherhood, joking that he is already feeling old.
For his fans, it’s been quite a change in perception. Ten years ago, he was smack in the middle of a sex scandal after scores of photos of him having sex with a large number of singers and actresses were uploaded to the Internet.
He recently settled down with model Shupei Qin. Their oneyear-old daughter Alaia was born last year. Admitted Edison: “After having Alaia, I suddenly feel so old. Sometimes I feel like I’m a 55-year-old uncle.”
Recalling the moment he was told that Shupei was pregnant, Edison said they were then renovating their home and getting ready for a vacation. For a moment, they were stumped because they had not planned for parenthood.
Shupei wanted the baby, and Edison wholeheartedly agreed .
For Edison, what’s more important is spending time with Alaia, instead of showering her with gifts.
Canada-born Edison is very particular about this because when he was a child, his father relocated to work in Hong Kong.
Materially they were well off, but Edison missed his father.
Now, Edison is trying to make sure he is always there for his own daughter. In the future, he plans to send her to school, and also prepare dinner.
