Shareda says to work with new state govt

-

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Housing And Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) congratulates the newly sworn-in Sabah Chief Minister and Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and the appointments of the new 29 members in the Sabah Cabinet recently.

Its president, Chew Sang Hai, said the Shareda Council and members will continue to give its strong support to complement and work closely with the newly formed state and federal governments to boost the business economic growth and investments in the country in particular, the housing and property development sector.

"The unveiling of the cabinet line-up also saw three new ministries to tackle health and people's wellbeing, education and law and native affairs.

“We in Shareda view the formation as positive and looking forward to overcome the delivery system," he said in a statement yesterday.

Chew said Shareda opined and hoped the state government will emulate the formation of a Team of Eminent Persons for Sabah to strengthen the new administration with sound advice and make recommendations to the current prevailing policies, guidelines and laws which are outdated.

He said Shareda would volunteer to sit in the committee to contribute any inputs or recommendations for a transparent and good governance system.

"We also noted the Ministry of Finance in Kuala Lumpur would implement GST 0% on 1st June 2018 and we opine that the move would boost the confidence and sentiment of the depressed property market," he said.

To respond to the government initiative, Chew said Shareda would encourage its members to formulate more marketing incentives to boost the property market.

He said Shareda is in the midst of reviewing its strategies in the context of housing and financial policies and will present them to the State Government later.

"On behalf of Shareda and members, once again I wish to congratulate the Pakatan Harapan Chairman and seventh Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Parti Warisan Sabah President and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal for the formation of a new era to reform and change the government administration in Malaysia," he added.
