PKR Labuan commences community service

-

LABUAN: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Labuan yesterday started its official community service, barely eight days after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition formed the government.

Its divisional chief Simsudin Sidek said the party division heads alongside Labuan Warisan candidate Noor Halim Zaini met the local authority of Labuan Corporation.

“We paid a courtesy call on Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Azhar Ahmad together with his deputies today and we discussed on the various development issues and local traders’ grievances at length, and it was a positive discussion,” he said yesterday.

He said a group of Labuan Corporation officials have agreed to meet hawker representatives of the newlycompleted Labuan Food Court who are now in a quandary over what they described as ‘unreasonable’ monthly rate amid the economic slowdown on the island.

Simsudin also said a group of Labuan PKR division officials led by him had met PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Cheras Rehabilitation Centre before the latter was freed.

“We met him to brief him on the PKR Labuan performance in the GE14 that was contested by Noor Halim under the Warisan ticket who almost defeated Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Rozman Isli who garnered a slim majority of 1,450 votes,” he said.

Simsudin said they also handed over a list of potential PKR members whom could be nominated as Labuan Corporation’s advisory council member and chairman.

The chairman of Labuan Corporation is still being held by Rozman Isli.
