HONG KONG: TVB's upcoming period drama 'Deep in the Realm of Conscience' held a press conference for the epic drama recently.

The drama's main cast, including Kenneth Ma and Jacqueline Wong, shared their experiences working on the show, which was shot on location at Hengdian World Studios.

The co-stars-turnedonscreen couple, Kenneth and Jacqueline, made it clear to the press that they did not bring their relationship into their characters, explaining that the characters they play on the show are completely different from their real-life selves. Jacqueline said, “Maybe some people would think that it would be easier for us to get in character, but that's not necessarily true. We are playing completely different characters from ourselves.”

Nonetheless, the couple said they had a very comfortable working experience with each other. “Everything felt natural, and (Kenneth) is a very professional actor. He helped me get in character,” said Jacqueline.

However, filming for 'Deep in the Realm of Conscience' had not been smooth. There were many sleepless nights, and for Jacqueline, the number of emotional scenes she had to do definitely took a toll on her own health. “I fell sick at one point, and I wouldn't stop coughing for two weeks straight. It's to the point where I would wake myself up at night from coughing. My coworkers were all very caring and prepared a lot of medicine for me. I felt so loved. I'm touched.”

On Kenneth's hardest scene, he said, “I had a scene that was shot in the woods. It was raining very hard that day and I was literally covered in mud.”

'Deep in the Realm of Conscience' is the official sister production of 'Beyond the Realm of Conscience', which broke TV ratings when it aired in Hong Kong in 2009. 'Deep' also stars Steven Ma, Nancy Wu, Annie Liu, Edwin Siu, Alice Chan, and Chrissy Chau. It premieres May 21.
