LAM holds special briefing session for new graduate architects
PETALING JAYA: The Board of Architects Malaysia or also known as Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) marks another significant milestone by holding its very first formal briefing session for newlyregistered graduate architects last Saturday, 12 May 2018, held at City University Malaysia.
It was attended by over 200 participants from various architectural programmes who have passed the Part I & II examination conducted by the Architectural Examination Council of Malaysia.
Present at this special briefing ceremony was its president, Zairul Azidin Badri, who said, “Our architects are the leaders in the industry. Our country needs more architects for the future.”
Also present was the board member, Zuraina Leily Awalludin, who explained the ratio and comparison of the number of architects from Malaysia with other countries.
The participants at the event also heard from Mustapha Mohd Salleh, chairman of Registration & CPD Committee of LAM, and Jasmeet Sidhu, chairman of the Architectural Examinations Council, who explained the examination rules and regulations as well as the necessary guidelines which would allow them to be a professional architect.
“I am glad that the graduate architects are here today at this session as it is important for them to be prepared beforehand to successfully become a professional architect,” said Megat Ariff, the Head of Architecture Department for Faculty of Architecture & Built Environment (FOABE) of City University Malaysia.
The University offers diploma and degree programmes in architecture and interior design. The list of architectural programmes accredited by the LAM refers to programmes conducted by the relevant universities and institutions on a full time basis at their main campuses.
The list does not include programmes conducted by the said institutions either in the form of twinning, franchise or based on agreements between recognized and unrecognized institutions.
Applicants from the said programmes are required to sit and pass the Part I and II Examinations before they are qualified to register as a Graduate Architect with LAM, which is currently offered at City University Malaysia, one of the recognised universities by the Board.
