Goh resigns from MCA posts
Datuk Francis Goh has resigned as the deputy chairman of MCA Sabah State Liaison Commi ee.
KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Francis Goh has resigned as the deputy chairman of MCA Sabah State Liaison Committee.
He has also tendered his resignation as the chairman of MCA Penampang division, while his deputy Datuk Paul Kong will step in to helm the division.
Now an ordinary member of MCA, Goh said the reason for his resignation from all party posts was that MCA was no longer relevant in Sabah.
He said many Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, namely United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organization (Upko), Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), have left the coalition.
“Even Umno may join Gabungan Bersatu.”
He opined that the reason for the survival of MCA, Gerakan and MIC was due to BN.
“Now that BN is about to be disbanded in the State, Sabah MCA will no longer be relevant,” he said when contacted yesterday.
As for himself, Goh said he would focus on his business at the moment.
He would also continue to follow politics and comment on politics through the media and his column as an independent body and citizen.
“I do not need to be an elected representative to fulfill my political interests.”
To another question, Goh said it was premature to decide if he would join another party.
However, he did not rule out the possibility of joining a Sabahbased political party which shared the same aspirations in fighting for the betterment and advancement of Sabah.
“Since Pakatan Harapan and Warisan are the ruling government now, let’s give them an opportunity to execute their pledges and promises they made during the election campaign.”
Goh lost in the Kepayan state seat in the 14th general election to DAP’s Jannie Lasimbang.
