Dr M understands Sabah deserves to be represented — Leiking

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad understands that Sabah and Sarawak want to co-administer Malaysia, said Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Penampang Member of Parliamant Darell Leiking.

“As a Warisan-led government in Sabah, we have contributed to parliamentary numbers. I believe that Mahathir understands very well that Sabahans and Sarawakians cannot be just mere observers but we want to be part and parcel of co-administering the federation,” reckoned Leiking. “I think that Mahathir understands that Sabah deserves to be represented, as well as Sarawak.

We have seen in the previous Barisan Nasional government there was huge representation from the Sabah and Sarawak side.

“Why shouldn’t we be given? Sabah and Sarawak should be given federal representation. It is not a question of whether we want,” added the Warisan Deputy President.

Sabah Chief Minister and Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has submitted six Sabah Warisan MP names to be considered as ministers and deputy ministers by the federal government.

Amongst the names submitted were Leiking, Batu Sapi MP Datuk VK Liew, Papar MP Ahmad Hassan and Silam MP Mohammad Din Ketapi.

Shafie had also requested Sabah PKR and DAP to make their respective recommendations for the federal cabinet.

However, Mahathir has thus far only announced the core ministers without representation from Sabah and Sarawak.
