MACC triumph at Labuan Health Carnival
KOTA KINABALU: Team AeroMACC of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Labuan emerged as the champions of the Labuan Health Carnival ‘Senam Sihat’ competition held at Medan Selera Labuan over the weekend.
AeroMACC defeated six other teams to take the top place in the Agency category with Sweet Fit and Astana Budaya coming in second and third, respectively.
The other four teams vying for the title were Babunya, Cute Lady, Marisa and Unity Force.
In the ‘Lokaliti Kospen’ category, the winners were Padian Cakah while the second to fourth placing were won by Lajau Junior, Lz Lajau Team and Alwizataki.
The top three teams in each category received RM400, RM300 and RM200, apart from medals and certificates.
Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari presented the prizes to the winners in the carnival, which the department and Labuan Development Foundation jointly organised with the aim to promote the importance of health.
Labuan Corporation chairman Datuk Rozman Datuk Haji Isli, when making his address at the opening of the programme, stressed the importance of healthcare through a healthy diet.
He said a number illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer and stroke was brought about by negative lifestyle.
“Practice healthy and active lifestyles to prevent such chronic diseases,” he said.
Meanwhile, the one-day programme also included the Larian Ria 8km, KOPSEN and COMBI exhibition, speech competition and a gotong-royong to clean the Medan Selera.
Also present were Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Azhar Ahmad, Labuan Hospital director Dr Adnan Balidran, Labuan Police Chief Supt Mohd Farid Ahmad and MACC Labuan director, assistant commissioner Abdulamin Haji Abdullah.
