Anak Negeri leaders advise Musa to step down

-

KOTA KINABALU: Six top leaders of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri) yesterday gave their unsolicited advice to former Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman,to gracefully step down and allow Pakatan Harapan and Parti Warisan to manage the federal and state governments without much interference.

Musa was earlier sworn in as Chief Minister before Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin on May 10.

Anak Negeri secretary-general Dr Paul Porodong, treasurer Thomas Tsen and division chiefs Roger Chong (Tg Aru), Dr Oswald Igau (Bingkor), Peter Beaty (Sook) and Wahid Ismail (Kawang) said they will give the necessary support to both PH and Warisan in the name of development and progress of the entire nation.

“Let’s give a chance to Pakatan Harapan under the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal to do their respective duties and responsibilities as mandated by the people.

“If they fail to do their jobs, then by all means the people will have the right to criticize them. But in the meantime, please let us allow them to do their jobs,” the local Sabah party leaders who contested in the recent 14th general election appealed.

Legally speaking, they said Sabah is now facing a peculiar situation as Tun Juhar had sworn in both Musa and Shafie as Chief Minister in two separate ceremonies.

If a vote of no confidence were to be called to address the so-called power struggle, they strongly believe that Shafie has the advantage based on the present number of elected representatives aligned with the Warisan state government comprising parties like PKR, Upko, and DAP.

“Hence, we would like to declare our support to the PH-Warisan governments and advise Musa to step down gracefully for obvious reason,” the concerned candidates of Anak Negeri reiterated.

They said the election was over and the people have spoken, therefore whatever transpired during the campaign period should be put aside .

“It’s now time to be united and work in unison for the betterment of our country and Sabah in particular,” they stressed adding that change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.
