Sufficient essential items for Hari Raya, Kaamatan in Labuan

-

LABUAN: All measures are in place to ensure there will be no shortage of essential food items in the market during the Hari Raya and Kaamatan festive seasons.

Labuan Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has conducted monitoring and inspection at all major wholesalers of controlled items such as sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour (GMT) as well as at selected major retailers including supermarkets here.

Its enforcement chief Mohd Fikri Lai Abdullah said ample stocks of essential items have been stored in warehouses.

“The move will avert any essential item shortage during the festive season.

“There are sufficient stocks of sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour (GP) to cater to the increasing demand during the festive seasons,” he told Bernama yesterday.

He said all essential items would be sold at controlled prices during festive seasons to ease the financial burden of the people.

Fikri said wholesalers would be receiving additional supply of goods before the end of the month and they included 120,000 kg of sugar, 28,050 kg of cooking oil and 11,500 kg of wheat flour.

“Monitoring will be conducted continuously not only on the control items but other relevant items to ensure that there is no shortage of essential items for the coming festivals,” he said. - Bernama
