PayNet announces Sabah e-payment campaign winners

KUALA LUMPUR: Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) announced the 40 winners in the Sabah e-Payment campaign at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) office in Kota Kinabalu recently.

The campaign, conducted from Aug 4, 2017 till March 31, 2018 in two series – MyDebit and JomPAY – was held in conjunctio­n with the Sabah Finance Carnival organised by BNM.

PayNet, in a statement yesterday, said nine of the 13 winners in the JomPAY campaign received an iPad Pro each and four winners, the iPhone 7.

In the MyDebit campaign, Lee Kam See from Sandakan won a Perodua Bezza, while 30 other winners received the consolatio­n prize of a Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone each.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Sabah Water Department and the Sabah branch of National Higher Education Fund Corporatio­n were presented with the ‘Best Agency’ award each.

The Sabah e-Payment campaign was aimed at raising public awareness and encouragin­g payment be made online or at the JomPAY counter.

“The response had been good. With support from the Sabah government agencies, such initiative­s could also boost the government’s efforts in enhancing the effectiven­ess of the nation’s payment systems,” said PayNet group chief executive officer, Peter Schiesser.

PayNet (formerly Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd) has developed a safe, efficient and reliable payment system for a better Malaysian financial administra­tion and economy as a whole.

BNM is the largest shareholde­r of PayNet with 11 banks in Malaysia as joint shareholde­rs. - Bernama
