Kossan Rubber sees improving economy under new govt

-

SHAH ALAM: Rubber glove manufacturer, Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd, sees the nation’s economy improving under the auspices of the new Pakatan Harapan-led government.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia said the company would support any government that uplifts the country’s economic situation.

“We support any government. If the economy does well, everyone will benefit,” he told reporters after Kossan’s annual general meeting and extraordinary general meeting here today.

Lim said one of the interesting markets that the company ventured into was the halal rubber glove manufacturing sector.

“After two years of working on halal compliance, we are now the first halal glove manufacturer in the world, with one factory certified as halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) in 2017.

“We are working to get another factory in Klang to be halal compliant by this year,” he said, adding that the common perception was that halal certification was only applicable for Muslim consumers.

“It is not (only applicable to Muslims) as halal is another hygiene and safety system that will give (users) better confidence in using a product and about one-third of the world’s market recognises the halal system,” he said.
