PH has won, no need to attack opponents – Anwar

-

BUKIT MERTAJAM: All Pakatan Harapan (PH) elected representatives who won in the 14th general election (GE14) have been reminded to show moderation and carry out the trust of the people.

PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said PH had won and it was not the time to attack its opponents.

“Our focus is to ensure the people had won and we gain their trust by showing moderation, avoid extravagance and corruption like we used to attack others before. This is our responsibility, our big task.

“We have won so there is no need to attack our opponents. We cannot progress based on revenge. Revenge is a disease of the heart,” he told reporters after attending a breaking of fast at Yayasan AnNahdhoh yesterday.

Earlier Anwar also gave a tazkirah (talk) before performing Maghrib prayers followed by the breaking of fast with Permatang Pauh residents here.

Describing the present as an era of media freedom, Anwar said each elected representative would be monitored by the people and they should show commitment as a gesture of thanks to the people to remain loyal and continue to trust PKR and PH.

"Therefore they must anticipate this more conscious public would be assessing our performance unlike previous regime when everything is controlled, now everything is open. We are now being closely monitored and our performance will be assess carefully by the rakyat. We have to honour our commitment," he said.

Asked on his feelings on returning to his home village, Anwar said he was very grateful and had a longing for his friends and family as well as residents in Permatang Pauh.
