Fake pictures on 1MDB raids, seizures doing the rounds – police

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The police yesterday dismissed as fake the social media viral pictures of money and other valuable items, purported to have been seized during the police investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case, that subsequently made their way into the print media a few days ago.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh, at a media conference, also denied the authenticity of certain information regarding the investigations that were doing the rounds.

“I want to deny the information about the total amount of money and jewellery seized.

“This includes the sum of cash seized, it (information) is fake and not true at all,” he said.

He said the police had conducted the investigation in a professional manner, including the inspections carried out at homes of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his family.

Amar Singh also denied allegations that infant clothing was also seized, and advised the parties involved to submit proof of purchase if, indeed, the items were among those taken.

On claims that policemen also helped themselves to chocolates at the premises during the inspections, Amar Singh once again suggested that the parties lodge a police report to enable them to investigate the matter so that strict action can be taken if they were indeed true.
